BRIEF.
Placemats
Design a paper children's placemat, that will be distributed around some of the local cafes and food venues, also at HiFest and available to colour in over the weekend.
It needs to be A3 Landscape, black and white (to be coloured in).
The theme can be anything food related eg. Fry-ups, pizza, burgers, bread, bagels, wholefoods, fruit & veg. Could be fun to make characters for these as the placemats will be primarily aimed at children / families.

PLACEMATS.
A placemat or a table mat is a covering or pad used to cover an individual place setting, unlike the larger table cloth that covers the entire surface. Placemats are made from many different materials depending on their purpose: to protect, decorate, entertain or advertise.

Drawing Placemats are used to entertain children while they wait for their food to be served. A lot of Placemats are based around food that would usually link to the restraunt, for example if you was at Pizza Express you would more likely find a placemat about Pizza.
A lot of placemats will have puzzles or connect the dot for example, this gives the children a lot more option on what to do while waiting for their food.
When I create my own placemat I will mostly concentrate around colouring in, so I will create a scene about lots of different kinds of food.

What I like about these 2 placemats is they are giving the kids an idea on what to draw, they are helping them come up with an idea on what to draw and I really like how they have done that. The one thing I dislike about this is they use too much space up of colour, they could have left more space to draw on.
